Are you thinking about planning more community events for your residents this year? That’s great news! Community events are a great opportunity for residents to interact with their neighbors and feel more connected to their community. Instead of organizing another pool party or BBQ, try one of these ideas:
1. Outdoor Movie Night
Perfect for warm summer nights! Rent an outdoor movie screen or DIY one and invite your community to watch a flick under the stars! Ask them to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks. Bonus points for providing a popcorn or candy bar! Pick out a few family-friendly options (Grease, Casper, The Lego Movie, etc.) and let your community vote which one they’d like to watch the most!
You can even have a drive-in themed movie night with individual cardboard cars for the kids!
2. Morning Workout & Waffles
Hire an instructor or ask around to see if there’s any that live in your community. Schedule a beginner’s class in the morning and have a waffle/breakfast bar set up for people to snack on afterwards! Make sure you have plenty to drink! Flavored waters and juices are perfect for a post-workout refreshment. Mimosas are optional!
3. S’mores Indoors
Set up s’mores heat cans indoors or fire up your fire pits if you have them (for “S’mores Outdoors”), put out graham crackers, marshmallows and an assortment of chocolate (peanut butter cups, traditional chocolate bars, peppermint patties) for people to assemble their own treats!
Best Practices for Planning a Community Event:
- Check local calendars for conflicts with your event. Schedule your event on a quiet night to get the best turn out.
- Mail postcards, attach notices to resident deliveries and packages and hang reminders on apartment doors up to six weeks out from your event.
- Encourage residents to bring friends. You never know who might be looking for an apartment in the future!
Do you have any unique upcoming events planned? We’d love to hear them!
